Summer Youth Activities Associate

Our Youth Activities Associates work to enhance our Wakonda Kids’ experience by providing engaging, stimulating, and safe activities for them to participate in. They are responsible for making sure children know what activities they are meant to be participating in throughout the day, and they must take attendance before any activity begins to ensure that all children are accounted for. Typically, a Youth Activities Associate creates a mentally and physically healthy environment for the kids. It is also their responsibility to create and maintain a great relationship with the kids and their parents or guardians. Our Youth Activities Associates make sure every child return to their parents or guardians safely.

Job Duties

·         Developing, supervising, and participating in summer programming activities with children of different ages.

·         Participating in training workshops held prior to summer sessions.

·         Working co-operatively with other Wakonda Associates to ensure children are safe, while maintaining adequate health and hygiene measures.

·         Building relationships with all children by showing compassion, empathy and understanding.

·         Taking roll call at the beginning and end of every activity.

·         Assisting children with getting from activity to activity.

·         Assisting children with lunch.

·         Providing positive feedback for parents.

Qualifications

·         Ability to work well with children and parents.

·         Ability to communicate effectively with parents, other associates, and children.

·         Ability to motivate others towards learning new skills.

·         Ability to demonstrate responsible, ethical, and professional conduct.

·         Ability to provide support and instruction to others.

·         Experience or education in working with children.

Reports To: Youth Activities Director

Rate of Pay: $13-$14/hr. Dependent on Experience
